The Stranger

Dear readers,

We need your help. The coronavirus crisis in Seattle is a major threat to The Stranger's ability to keep the city informed. We pride ourselves on having navigated many storms in the world of independent local media, but this time is different.

90% of our revenue—from advertising, ticketing fees, and our own events—is directly tied to people getting together in groups. The coronavirus situation has virtually eliminated this income all at once. At a time when the city needs local coverage more than ever, we're asking for your help to support continued coverage of everything happening in Seattle. You can make one-time or recurring donations. We can't say enough how much we appreciate your support. Thank you.

The Mexican spot sells frozen drinks and El Xolo food to go, the latter of which you can get from Wednesday-Sunday from 1-5 pm by ordering in person or calling ahead. Charles Mudede once wrote, "After a day's work, I almost never fail to have one or two or three drinks at Nacho Borracho." (He also recommends the nachos.)
209 Broadway E (Capitol Hill)
Seattle, WA 98102
The women behind the Capitol Hill bar Montana made this drinky Mexican spot not too far away on Broadway, where Ooba Tooba and a bunch of other places failed to thrive. The decor is basic fiesta, the music is loud, and the bank of slushie machines are ready to dispense unto you a variety of icy alcohol, including an avocado margarita. "Borracho" means "drunk," and nachos, Frito pie, and more are available until 2 a.m. Nacho Borracho to the rescue!
